Well, clearly it's been a long time since I've put anything on the blog. For those of you who are still checking in on this every once in a while, here is a brief update since May.
I finished up my spring quarter at school as of mid-June by the seat of my pants. It wasn't that I really had so much to do, as it was that I had a schedule that was really inconvenient considering bus schedules and such. In the end, half of my days were spent on buses, and I think that just about killed me.
My teaching practicum finished off well, and I am excited to be a TA at the University of Washington this fall. I still don't know what class I will be teaching, but it will be quite the learning experience no matter what. I'm also taking phonetics at the same time, and I can't wait for that class. Introductory linguistics was a lot of fun and I hope the linguistic courses that I will be taking will be just as much fun.
In the meantime, I am working for Rosetta Stone this summer and possibly will continue working for them throughout the school year, provided it works with the school schedule. I get to learn languages while on the sales floor and talk to lots of interesting people. I like talking to people who are passionate about exploring languages and cultures, however, there are always a few odd people who find their way to the kiosk.
In other news, I need to brush up my Spanish because in the past few days I have found myself talking extensively in Spanish and finding fault in my ability to speak coherently. Fortuantely, the people I've been talking to have had patience with me and we've been able to communicate quite well. I might even have a language exchange partner in Auburn! (or I might be giving small English lessons). Riding the bus has been good for meeting different people, and I love to play tour guide to my hometown.
